Lagos Residents Protest Planned Demolition Of Houses


Residents of Ijegun/Ijedodo of Igando/Ikotun Local Government Area of Lagos State have staged a peaceful protest in front of Lagos State House of Assembly complex of alleged threat by the state government to demolish their properties under the guise of road construction.

The protesters numbering over 50 carried placards with various inscriptions such as, “Go Back To Original Master Plan,” Governor Sanwo-Olu Our Lives Are In Danger” and “We are not Encroaching On Any Government Acquisition”.

One of the landlords who led the protest Mr. Clement Nokwamechuckwu said that some officials of the state from the ministry of land and Surveyor General’s office have marked some houses at Ijegun/ Ijedodo under the guise that the houses encroached on government acquisition land.

According to him, residents Ijegun/Ijedodo have through their solicitors, “ Babalola Esq” written several letters of protest to the state governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu but that there has not been any response
