#EndSARS: Arewa Leader Cautions Southeast, Ohanaeze Against Activities Of Fraudsters

Leader of Arewa Community in the South-South Zone, Alhaji Musa Saidu, has cautioned governors of the Southeast geo-political zone and Ohaneze Ndigbo, to be wary of fraudsters claiming to represent the Arewa community.

He alleged that the fraudsters, who claim to be members of Arewa Youth have been going from state to state to sympathise with the people following deaths and loss of property recorded by Northerners during the #EndSARS protests that turned violent.

Saidu, who spoke with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, insisted that the leadership of Arewa Community in the South-South Zone  do not know the fraudsters as they do not represent Northerners living and doing business in the South-South and South-East zones of the country.

The Arewa leader said: “Since the #EndSARS protests happened and some Northerners were killed in this part of the country, a lot of people have been going around claiming to be representing the Arewa Community here and there.

“Some have even been here without my knowledge meeting with some people claiming that they came to condole with us but they are scammers and fraudsters. I was the one that buried the dead Northerners and I know where they

died. You can confirm from security agencies, who were in charge of security during and after the crisis.

“I am advising Ohaneze Ndigbo and South-East governors to be careful of these criminals who come to them claiming to represent us here. We didn’t send anybody to represent us and talk to anybody. There is nothing like Northern youths; we don’t know anybody. Since crisis has been happening here, we didn’t see any Northern youth. So,

anybody who goes to them is a fraudster and not representing us.

“We want to alert Ohaneze Ndigbo and South-East governors about those going round claiming to be Arewa Youths. We don’t know them and we don’t recognize them. Anybody dealing with them is doing so at his or

her own risk.”
