Jos Following the #EndSARS protests and the looting of warehouses stocked with assorted grains by hoodlums and the reselling of the looted grains in the open market at giveaway prices, the prices of grains have crashed in Bukuru in Jos South and Gangare Grains' Market in Jos North LGC respectively.
Our correspondent recalls that people suspected to be #EndSARS protesters stormed the NITEL warehouse along Bukuru express road, NEMA warehouse, Jos South LGC secretariat, and JIB Portakabin where thousands of bags of assorted grains which includes white maize, sorghum, millet, rice and other household products were brazenly carted away by the protesters.
Investigation by reporters revealed that majority of the youths who looted these warehouses have no wives or children and as a result were seen making brisk business by selling the 25kg bags of maize to members of the public at a give away price of N1000.00 per bag.
The buyers are those who have no strength to go into thewarehousestoscramble for the maize .
One of the buyers told our correspondent in Jos that he benefitted from the looting by buying the grains at affordable price saying hitherto the prices of grains most especially maize had gone beyond what ordinary man can afford in the state.
