IGP Petitioned Over Kogi Bank Robbery

A group, the League of Concerned Professionals from Kogi West senatorial district, has urged the Inspector General of Police to conduct thorough investigation to ensure those who robbed a commercial bank in Kogi State and attacked a police station, killing all officers on duty, are brought to book.

The group, which expressed concerns that some people may try to temper with the investigation, called for the intervention of the police boss in order to ensure that those officers never died in vain. In a statement signed by Mr. Leke Ishola and Engr Moruf Abdulrahman, President and Secretary of the group, respectively, the group alleged that police operatives had traced some of the money stolen from the bank to another bank in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, while another team of policemen were said to have nabbed some of the suspects using illegal weapons given by politicians during the last elections in Kogi state.

Part of the statement read that: “In spite of being underfunded and undermanned, the Nigeria Police Force has demonstrated that some of its operatives will gallantly resolve criminal activities. But presently, the good works of the police detectives are about to be sabotaged by highly placed persons who are deploying massive resources towards preventing the criminals, their weapons and nefarious activities from being traced to them.
