Obiageli Ezekwesili, the former minister of education and ex-deputy managing director at the World Bank, has lost her mother, Cecilia Nwayiaka Ujubuonu, to cancer.
In an official press statement by her media office on Monday, June 22, and signed by her spokesperson and publicist, Ozioma Ubabukoh, Mama Ujubuonu died in the late hours of Sunday, June 21, at the age of 78, Legit reported.
It was state in the statement that the deceased was a native of Ndodolu village, Umunuko, Ukpor, Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state, she became a widow following the death of her husband, Benjamin Ujubuonu, in 1988.

"Born on April 18, 1942, Ujubuonu, a retired businesswoman, devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, church and service to humanity.
"She died in the arms and home of her daughter, Ezekwesili, in Abuja on Sunday night from cancer. Until her death, she was a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God," the statement added.
Her post on twitter on Tuesday, June 23, revealed that she lamented the death of her mother, saying that it was difficult for her to see her mum go.
However, she state that she was happy that her mother peacefully returned to God Almighty, adding that the deceased (the mother) gave her and her siblings everything to become great in life.
She tweeted, "Nnem. Nnem. Cried to see you go, but rejoicing that it is a peaceful & glorious return to our Lord Jesus whom you loved so much. You gave us & everyone who you met in life the kindest, most sacrificial love. Your energy will always live in us & keep us believing. Godspeed Nnem".
