On Tuesday, June 23, the Nigerian Chief of Defense Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, held a security meeting with other service chiefs at the defense headquarters.

Olonisakin revealed through his twitter handle that the meeting was to review security challenges in the country. His twit reads, "Today, I met with Service Chiefs and other Heads of Security agencies at the Defense Headquarters. To review security strategies in combating security challenges in the country”.

There have been calls for the security chiefs to resign over the security challenges in the country.

Recently, Nigeria’s Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, said any security chief who fails to live up to expectation should be relieved of his duties if he refuses to go.

Following the statement by the Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, on Sunday, June 21, shortly after he attended a security meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, he said that any security chief who fails to live up to expectation should be relieved of his duties if he refuses to go.

Similarly, due to constant killings in the country, calls from many angles keep requesting for the resignation of the security chiefs over the security challenges.
